Mental Fitness

Looking at mental fitness, I believe the activities that would work best for me personally are visualization and meditation. Meditation would allow me the chance to focus my mind and relax my body. Visualization would make me a better coach and help me in improving my physical fitness. Both would improve my overall health and allow me the chance to have a more holistic focus.

As for professionally, I would use these exercises with my team. Visualization would help them with their performance and meditation would help them control their anxiety in certain situations. Of course, I don't know how relaxed I would want them to be going into a competition. But, I know it would be helpful.

  1. Hello Kate,

Great post. I like how so many of us enjoyed the visualization exercise. This one did not work too well for me. Meditation and subtle mind is really where I felt some internal changes take place. however, being a coach I would think visualization really comes in handy and can help you with many aspects of that position. Sharing with your team visualization techniques is super cool. I bet that really helps! What about adding a 5 minute quiet meditation to the end of a practice and prior to a game?

  2. Kate, I haven't given much attention to the visualization exercises, but I imagine it would be a good practice to get your team ready and centered
