This week

What an interesting week for me! I have been at Dance Team camp for three days, went boating the next two, and have finished my week in Alaska. I will be here for two weeks, and I am very excited. Today we spent all day on Elmendorf Air Force Base watching the air show.

As for this week's exercise, I found it to be interesting. I had a hard time focusing and finding someone to think about. My life has many people who have influenced me by being an example of selfless love to others. I did like the ocean sounds though. The places that I feel most calm are on or near water or near the mountains. So, this part was good for me.

You see my life has been very compartmentalized which is what made it hard for me to focus for this exercise. Up until I was eleven years old, I lived with my mother (my father died when I was ten. They were still married at the time of his death). When I was eleven, my mom passed away, and I moved to live with my aunt and uncle. At eighteen, I fled as quickly as possible from their home even though they were WONDERFUL. But, you know how teenagers are. At twenty, I was married and have been for almost thirteen years now. Each of these chapters in my life has brought influences in and out of my life.

I look forward to hearing what others post.

  1. Aloha Kate!
You are one busy lady, so I can only imagine how hard it must be to turn off, shut down, during meditation for this class. I personally have a hard enough time to get all of my school work done and go to work but I find the conditioned process to be a nice enough. I laid right outside my door in the grass and listened to my meditation. I personally like to think about sending loving kindness to my mother and sister, then that expanded to include all the beings in the universe. I like the idea that you get out of prayer what you put into it. In fact during certain massage treatments I have become accustomed to incorporating prayer: Dear mind, body, and soul of (fill a name) of (name body part); I love you, honor you, and appreciate you. You have the power to heal yourself. Do a good job! Thank you!
This has been very successful for me and I have found much bliss in maintaining this mantra when needed. It seems to help the client to relax and it helps my intention to not wander and stay focused on my client. Anyway have a fantastic day!
